Impact of Pupil Premium Spend 2018-2019

£42,240 Pupil Premium funding was used for the following:

To raise attainment in reading and foster a love of reading

  • All the pupil premium children have had a better reading partner in addition to the classroom reading activities.  As a result they have all made progress and moved at least one colour band.
  • Teaching assistant support in classes has also enabled additional 1:1 reading as well as additional guided reading.
  • Teaching assistant support has also enabled small group phonic activities.

To raise attainment in writing

  • Teaching Assistant support has enabled 1:1 support and small group tuition.  This has focused on instant marking and feedback to improve spelling, punctuation and sentence construction.
  • Regular handwriting inputs have resulted in improvements in children’s presentation and overall pride in their own work.

To raise attainment in maths

  • Teaching Assistant support has enabled 1:1 support and small group tuition.  This has focused on instant marking and feedback as well as encouraging children to explain their reasoning in maths.
  • Bespoke maths groups have had an impact on overall attainment and progress.

To improve confidence, self-esteem and social, emotional development

  • The Learning Mentor has supported children on a 1:1 basis as well as within small groups.  As a result, children have a more positive approach to their learning.  SDQ scores have improved and there have been minimal behaviour incidents.
