This Christmas, Anston Park Infant School, has worked closely with Kindness & Co, a charity which helps local people bring about positive change in Anston and Dinnington, to help make Christmas special for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Here are just some of the acts of kindness our pupils, parents staff and Governors have been involved in:
- The pupils in our Craft Club run by Mrs Bradley, Mrs Hawley, Mrs Steeple and Mrs Wright made Christmas cards and snowman pegs to bring a smile to the faces of lonely people in our community.
- Staff bought items to be included in a hamper for a local family including ingredients for a Christmas Dinner and presents for the children.
- Mrs Bradley initiated a project where pupils carried out extra jobs at home or gave up their own spending money to buy colouring books, felt tips, crayons etc which were made into over 90 colouring packs.
Mrs Tyler (Headteacher), Mrs Moutry (Chair of Governors) and Mrs Thompson (Parent Governor) delivered the items to South Anston Methodist Church for distribution. Mrs Tyler and her daughter also helped out on Christmas Eve by peeling vegetables and wrapping presents and Mrs Thompson helped taxi some of the 90 people, who would otherwise have been on their own on Christmas Day, to the Church Hall for their Christmas Dinner.
