Anston Park Infant School helps to fund a defibrillator for the local community
As part of our push to strengthen our community links, you may have noticed that Anston Park Infant School now has a defibrillator located near to the entrance to our staff car park.
Two years ago, Mrs Russell and Mrs Roberts and our Year 1 children (now Year 3) formed the Anston Park Team known as The APT and raised money with an initial start-up fund being donated by a local company, Belle Lingerie, as part of a Business Enterprise Initiative.
The APT also raised money through sales of Christmas crafts and show tickets for our Christmas Production 2018.
As a school we were also helped enormously by our local Anston Ward who added a generous donation to the funds already raised in school. They also helped us link up with a local charity “Start a Heart” who provided us with the defibrillator and cabinet.
Whilst we hope the defibrillator never has to be used, it is reassuring to know that this vital lifesaving equipment is readily available to us and the local community. School staff are all First Aid trained and this includes training on the use of a defibrillator.
Congratulations to the Anston Park Team for their fundraising efforts and a huge thank you Councillor Jepson and Nicky Hayes from the local Anston Ward and Trish Lister and her team at Start a Heart.
