As part of our topic about Coal Mining, class 1 and 2 visited the National Coal Mining Museum. It was a chilly but fantastic day! We learnt so much about coal mining and it has really helped us with our learning in many subjects. For example, in English we have written some very emotive diary entries from the point of view of a Victorian child miner. We looked around the museum and studied the artefacts such a davy lamps very closely. We also went underground for a tour around the coal mine. We really recommend this visit, it is so interesting and you only have to look at the quality of work on our coal mining display in class to see how much it contributes to our learning.
