Multiplying Maths!

Multiplying Maths! by the children
This half term we have begun to look more closely at multiplication and times tables. We have done this by making peg board arrays to help up visualise what is happening to a number when we multiply it. For example 4 x 5 would be 4 rows of 5 pegs. We can then use our knowledge of counting in fives to find the total. We will then gradually move onto a multiplication jotting which can be found in the Maths parent booklet given out at the parent talk. Extra copies are available from the parent board in the cloakroom.
We are also developing our ability to recall our times tables. Can you practice these at home too?
It is the national expectation that by the end of Year 2 children should be able to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers.
